Today August 19th, 2023 marks World Humanitarian Day, an international day dedicated to recognize people helping people and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes.  The Theme of this year's celebration is *"No matter who, No matter where #NoMatterWhat"* It aims at educating the public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, especially people needing humanitarian assistance and protection due to natural disaster, communal clashes, inter-tribal conflicts, etc affecting the majority of our people. Recall that, I was inaugurated as Honorable Commissioner in charge of Humanitarian Affairs two days ago by His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, the Executive Governor of Cross River State. Disregard claims by The illegal Body That visited Govt house, I Remain The Recognized Chairman of IPMAN, Calabar unit - Okim

Image
In response to the recent inciting, baseless and emotional outburst by one Comrade Robert Obi, former factional caretaker Chairman of IPMAN Calabar unit during their purported visit to Secretary to the state government and other issues, I would like to provide a balanced perspective on the matter. Firstly, it is important to note that the Calabar unit of IPMAN has been plagued by internal factions and leadership disputes for several years caused by the said Obi and cohorts. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that both factions within IPMAN Calabar unit ...

Image
To complement the efforts of the present administration in ensuring sustainable development at the grassroots and by extension, harnessing the economic resources of rural communities in Cross River state, a renowned Accountant and Local Government Administration expert, Elder Dr. Ndoma Odey has proposed the creation of 12 additional Local Councils in the state. The creation of 12 new Councils otherwise known as Local Council Development Authorities LCDA, in addition to the existing 18 LGAs shall bring the total number of Local Government Areas in the state to 30, with each state constituency qualified for one. The new LCDAs shall be funded by the state government and shall operate as full-fledged Local Government Areas, pending the consequential Act of the National Assembly.   According to Dr Odey, given the massive population of the state and its expansive landmark, it is difficult for governance and development to penetrate the rural areas with the existing 18 LGA str...
